The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is delighted to announce a heartwarming new exhibition in the Atrium Gallery titled “Small Moments, Big Stories,” featuring the photographic works of Girl Scout Troop #40069. Running from May 2nd through May 24th, this exhibit celebrates the beauty found in everyday life—quiet glances, playful pets, and the changing seasons—seen through the eyes of local scouts.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, May 2nd, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This event is hosted by the Wednesday Morning Musicales group, offering guests an opportunity to meet the young artists and enjoy light refreshments while viewing the collection. The Musicales group holds a free public musical performance on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:15AM from October to May in the Gmeiner Gallery. The Musicales choir members also rehearse at the Gmeiner every Wednesday at 9:15AM.
“Small Moments, Big Stories” is more than just a gallery show; it is a reflection of the scouts’ journey in curiosity, creativity, and the courage to see the world from new perspectives. By slowing down to truly look at the world around them, these scouts have captured powerful stories in moments that might otherwise pass by.
“It has been incredible to watch the scouts’ curiosity turn into such a beautiful collection of stories,” says Troop Leader Dawn Adams. “We hope this show inspires other young people in Wellsboro to pick up a camera and start looking for the big stories in their own lives.”
To support the scouts’ ongoing journey in the arts, all proceeds from photography sales will go directly back to Troop #40069.
To make the arts even more accessible and engaging for our youngest visitors, the Gmeiner is proud to feature several interactive elements during this exhibit. Children can participate in an interactive scavenger hunt, designed to help them explore the gallery with an adventurous eye. Additionally, the Gmeiner will offer Art Friend’s themed “Take-Away Art Packs,” providing kids with the materials and inspiration to create their own “big stories” at home.
