2025 Regional Fiber Arts Exhibit

In The Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center is thrilled to announce an open call for a regional contemporary fiber art exhibit to be held this September – October in the Main Gallery. It is open to any adult artist creating contemporary pieces in any fiber medium or technique (quilting, slow-stitching, weaving, felting, embroidering, crocheting, knitting, sewing, tatting, including working with unusual or recycled materials) who resides within 150 miles of the Gmeiner.

A link to the application form will open HERE on July 15th, 2025. Artists must complete an online application form linked on our “Call for Artists” page on our website by Friday, August 15th  at 6PM to reserve a space in the show.

Works submitted must be original in design. Pieces must have been completed in the last 10 years (created after September 1, 2015). Works previously exhibited at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center are not eligible for this display.

Artists will submit information and photographs of their work in an online form. This will include contact information, title, materials, techniques, dimensions, year completed, price if the work is available for sale (otherwise list NFS), and artist statement per piece (100 words or less). List dimensions as Height x Width x Depth in inches.

Each piece entered must be accompanied by two images: 1. A frontal photo that shows the entire piece and 2. A photo of the back that shows the method of hanging the item. Pieces should be photographed on a neutral background, and images cropped to only show the item.

Please take the time to ensure your photographs and artist statement reflect the care and craftsmanship of your work. Poorly photographed pieces are less likely to be accepted.

Acceptance:

There is no fee to participate. Artists will be chosen for the exhibit based on creating a harmonious and varied display. Artists will be notified of their acceptance into the exhibit by Friday, August 22nd at 6PM.

The Gmeiner reserves the right to refuse any artwork.

Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration. There is no size limitation, but the number of entries accepted may be affected by the size of the pieces.

Delivery and Display of Artwork:

The exhibit will open on Saturday, September 20th with a reception from 2-4PM. Artists and their friends and family are encouraged to attend. Please let the director know if you have any food allergies.

The exhibit ends on Sunday, October 12th at 6PM. Artists will need to pick up their work on either Monday, October 13th or Tuesday, October 14th from 12-6PM. If the artist cannot pick up their work on one of those two days, it is their responsibility to arrange for someone else to pick up their pieces for them. The Gmeiner does not have storage space for multiple large objects.

Any artwork not picked up within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will be considered abandoned and will be disposed of at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center’s discretion.

Insurance:

The Gmeiner does NOT insure exhibits. Art is displayed at the artist’s risk. Artists are encouraged to speak with their insurance company about a rider if coverage is desired. Please keep this in mind when deciding whether to submit your work for the exhibit.
